Question: Some people think the money spent in developing the technology for space exploration is not justified. There are more beneficial ways to spend this money. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is the case that technology has been constantly invested in space exploration. While it is argued that this investment is unjustified, I think that it has produced numerous benefits.
To begin with, for the opponents of exploring space, it appears that this activity is an unwise investment for some primary reasons. Firstly, space exploration is exorbitantly expensive, so only a small group of people may afford it. Investing billions of dollars to serve a few people may regard as being wasteful financially. Secondly, it has been widely acknowledged that journeys to the universe have polluted the solar system. Spacecraft and satellite ships have released a load of rubbish items around the planet and dangerous smoke into different layers of the atmosphere. Finally, space journeys could pose a potential risk to the health of travelers as well. This is because, while in space, astronauts and scientists are exposed to natural dangers such as radiation stemming from the sun or to the extremely severe conditions of the weather.
However, I am more convinced that conquering and exploring the universe benefits humans in many aspects. The first reason for my argument is that space exploration has provided humans with useful experiential knowledge. It allows people to have a macro-level understanding of the major astronomical issues, which can help to deal with such problems as ozone depletion or climate change. Another compelling reason is that the elicitation of space opens new opportunities to resolve the shortage of natural resources on earth. For instance, scientists can access new raw materials from other planets that can alter or substitute current rapidly exhausting resources. Further, conducted studies and accumulated knowledge as exploring and researching space could contribute to many technological and scientific advances, particularly in communication, telecommunication or preventing natural catastrophes.
In short, while it is true that space elicitation could result in some demerits, the societal and scientific benefits and values it has brought to humankind have been more vital. Thereby, the question of whether or not space exploration should be developed could be replaced with how to mitigate the potential risks it might pose.

Paragraph 2: reasons for opposing space exploration
(1) space exploration is exorbitantly expensive – (supporting sentence) Investing billions of dollars to serve a few people may regard as being wasteful financially.
(2 journeys to the universe have polluted the solar system – e.g. Spacecraft and satellite ships have released a load of rubbish items and dangerous smoke.
(3) space journeys could pose a potential risk to the health of travelers– (supporting sentence) astronauts and scientists are exposed to natural dangers
Paragraph 3: benefits of exploring space
(1) space exploration has provided humans with useful experiential knowledge -e.g. to deal with problems as ozone depletion or climate change.
(2) open new opportunities to resolve the shortage of natural resources on earth – e.g. scientists can access new raw materials from other planets.
(3) contribute to many technological and scientific advances– e.g. in communication, telecommunication or preventing natural catastrophes.
